Jamaican industry and the motoring public will come to contend with a mixed outlook this week, following the latest pricing regimen by State-owned refinery, Petrojam.
Costing $3.06 less effective midnight today (February 8), 87-octane gasolene will open at a baseline price at $168.20 per litre, before applied taxes.
The price slash was mostly consistent across Petrojam’s closely watched petroleum product price index, ending a four-week rise since January 1.
This week’s reduction was most pronounced for 87- and 90-octane gasolene as well as heavy fuel oil (HFO), which each fell by J$3.06.
On the other hand, prices for propane and butane rose for a second consecutive week, up $3.06 and $2.36.
It is expected retailers will add their respective mark-ups to the announced prices.
