The state-run oil refinery Petrojam is assuring customers and the public that the fire that occurred at the facility yesterday Tuesday will not affect the supply of petroleum products to the market.

“At Petrojam, we maintain a substantial reserve of products to ensure uninterrupted supply to the country in any emergency situation. All our racks are open for business as per standard business hours,” General Manager of Petrojam Telroy Morgan stated.

“We understand the critical nature of our products and firmly stand by our mandate to ensure that Jamaica never runs out of fuel. We remain fully committed to consistently and reliably meeting the needs of our customers and assure you that there are sufficient supplies in place.

At approximately 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, a fire broke out at the refinery. The fire was brought under control through the swift action of Petrojam’s emergency response personnel, and several units from the Jamaica Fire Brigade. There were no injuries reported.

Petrojam says investigation into the incident continues, and further updates will be provided.
