Petrojam slashes pump prices for third straight week

Jamaican industry and the motoring public enjoy a third consecutive reduction at the pumps this week, following the latest pricing regimen update by State-owned refinery, Petrojam.
In its closely watched petroleum product price index, Petrojam trimmed 87-octane gasolene prices down by J$4.56 effective Thursday (October 12). The commodity now opens at a new baseline of J$183.02 per litre, after applied taxes.
Owing to volatility on the global market, the refinery’s benchmark prices still hover near a 12-month high not seen since October 2022.
The price slash was more pronounced for 87-octane and 90-octane gasolene as well as automotive diesel and its ultra-low sulphur counterpart, which fell J$4.50 respectively. Asphalt, on the other hand, saw its introductory cost rise by J$3.06.
It is expected that retailers will add their mark-ups to the announced prices.
