Venus dazzles in the upper half of this view from our Night Sky Map for Miami, USA, at 18:45 (6:45 pm) local time on February 24. We were curious: How often are all the planets above the horizon at the same time, in a darkish sky? Not often.

However, from around February 23 to 26, the following alignment will take place within a certain band of latitudes:

  • The Sun will be 6 degrees or more below the horizon (nautical twilight), and
  • Every planet (including Uranus and Neptune) will be 6 degrees or more above the horizon.

The next time this happens will be in 2036; the next time after that will be in 2060.
