The PNP Patriots are calling on Prime Minister Andrew Holness to answer directly: was he aware that Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn, Member of Parliament and Minister of State in the Ministry of National Security and Peace, appears to be the subject of Integrity Commission scrutiny, and if so, when did he find out?

“This is no longer a question for a junior minister to answer alone. It’s a question for the Prime Minister,” said Paul Blake, President of the PNP Patriots. “Mr Holness, is it true? And if it’s true, were you aware? We asked a version of this same question when Dr Andrew Wheatley, a minister you reappointed to your Cabinet, was ruled by the Integrity Commission to be charged with illicit enrichment. We never got a straight answer then. So we’re asking again now: at what point does the Prime Minister stop being surprised by his own Cabinet? One has to wonder, is Andrew Holness actually in control of his Cabinet, or is he simply the last to know what’s happening inside it?” said Blake.

The question follows a now-deleted July 20 thread from Mrs Cuthbert-Flynn’s own social media account, in which she described the Integrity Commission attempting to visit her home some months ago and being turned away by her security detail for lack of prior notice. In the same posts, she questioned whether persons under investigation in Jamaica are given a proper hearing before being named publicly. She referenced international standards on how illicit enrichment cases are meant to be handled. The posts have since been taken down.

“Mrs Cuthbert-Flynn didn’t just speculate about how these cases work in general; she described the Integrity Commission trying to visit her own home,” said Danishka Williams, Vice President of the PNP Patriots. “Silence is not an answer, and deletion is not clarity. If Mrs Cuthbert-Flynn has nothing to hide, she should say so plainly. If she is under investigation, the public deserves to know that too. What we cannot accept is a sitting Minister with responsibility for national security treating accountability as optional.”

The Patriot said they will continue to press for transparency and accountability from public officials regardless of political stripe.

“Integrity in public office isn’t a partisan talking point; it’s the standard every Jamaican has a right to expect,” Williams said. “We are calling on Mrs Cuthbert-Flynn to confirm or deny this matter without further delay, and on the Prime Minister to confirm whether he was aware of it.”
