Prime Minister Andrew Holness used social media on Saturday (August 28) to commend the efforts of Jamaican Paralympian Sylvia Grant.

Grant finished 10th in the F-57 discus final at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Despite failing to medal, Holness lauded the Paralympian’s performance at The Games, noting that Grant displayed the “correct attitude” describing her as a ” true champion”.

“A disability does not define a person. It is the correct attitude and application of that attitude which defines you. Our Paralympians continue to show the true Jamaican spirit of hard work and dedication at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games,” said Holness on social media platform Facebook.

“I take this opportunity to acknowledge and commend Sylvia Grant, who finished 10th in the Women’s Discus like a true champion! I also wish our Paralympians every success as they compete in the games,” he added.

Grant produced a season’s best throw of 23.12m in Tokyo, her 8th appearance at the Paralympic Games.

Jamaica’s 12-person delegation left to compete in The Games on August 16.

The Games conclude on September 5, 2021.
