The People’s National Party (PNP) president Mark Golding is putting his confidence in Hubert Williams as the new caretaker candidate to secure victory for the opposition in Western St Thomas.
As the campaign heats up ahead of this year’s constitutionally due general elections, Golding told party supporters that should the PNP return to power, he would form a “government for the people”.
Williams, immediate former mayor of Morant Bay, faces off against five-term incumbent Member of Parliament James Robertson, who has held an iron grip on the constituency since first being elected in 2002.

Speaking at an event in his honour in Easington on Sunday (March 23), Lawrence said he had no fear of the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Robertson—channelling his best rendition of Portia Simpson-Miller’s explosive 2011 speech.
