
Opposition Spokesperson on Information, Nekeisha Burchell, has extended condolences on behalf of the People’s National Party to the family of Anthony Smith, Chief Executive Officer of the RJR/Gleaner Communications Group, as well as to his colleagues and the wider media fraternity at this time of loss.
Smith passed away on Sunday after a reported brief period of illness.
In reflecting on Smith’s contribution, Burchell said: “Anthony Smith was a steady and thoughtful leader who brought clarity, professionalism and a strong sense of purpose to Jamaica’s media landscape.
“His work reflected a deep respect for the role of the media in informing the public and strengthening our democracy. His passing is a loss not only to his family and colleagues, but to the entire country.”
The People’s National Party joins the RJR/Gleaner Communications Group, the Media Association of Jamaica and the wider national community in recognising Smith’s contribution to Jamaica’s media landscape and extends sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all those impacted by his life and service.
