The People’s National Party (PNP) is mourning the passing of retired educator and former Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) councillor Ena Spaulding, who died on Monday, December 8.
Spaulding, who represented the Mavis Bank Division between 1998 and 2003, was widely regarded as a dedicated teacher and community advocate. She spent decades shaping young minds as a classroom teacher and later as Principal of the Mount Fletcher All-Age School in East Rural St Andrew.
Opposition Spokesperson on Local Government Natalie Neita Garvey, MP, said Spaulding’s service to both education and local governance left a meaningful impact.
“She was punctual and faithful in her attendance at meetings, and was an articulate and skilful local government practitioner who served the poor with commitment,” Neita Garvey said. She noted that Spaulding’s work with the youth of her division remains one of her most enduring contributions.
Neita Garvey, speaking on behalf of the PNP, extended condolences to Spaulding’s family and to the residents of East Rural St Andrew, whom she served with distinction.
