The Patriots, the young professional arm of the People’s National Party (PNP), is this week launching a series of forums called “Reimagined”.

The first of the town-hall-style events that will explore contemporary ideas and solutions to a range of national issues is set to take place on Thursday (May 30) at the Courtleigh Hotel under the theme ‘Constitution Reimagined: The Road to A New Jamaica’.

“We’re looking to move the needle on how we think about some of our biggest national issues,” said Christopher Henry, president of The Patriots.

“Sometimes we must take a step back and evaluate how we’ve been trying to solve or improve various areas of Jamaican life. This series allows to bring together some of Jamaica’s brightest minds to really interrogate the idea of the ‘Jamaican Dream’ and how we make it attractive and accessible to all Jamaicans,” he continued, adding that the series will “offer new views and ideas for what we envision as the best for Jamaica”.

‘Reimagined’ will explore areas such as education, entrepreneurship, innovation, food security, housing and public health, among others. Each event will be open to the public.

Thursday’s session will focus on the current Jamaican constitution and the proposed changes, as well as the potential features of an ‘ideal’ constitution.

Senator Donna Scott Mottely, a member of the Constitutional Reform Committee, will be speaking at the event alongside attorney Isat Buchanan.

Henry mentioned that other speakers are still being confirmed and that “this session, along with all the Reimagine events, will help shape the advocacy and policy positions of The Patriots.”

“It’s important to us that this event is open to the public; we want to have a conversation, not deliver speeches. So, we are deliberately engaging people from all walks of life because that is the only way we can really be sure that we are reimagining solutions that take everyone’s view into account,” he remarked.

The general public is invited to livestream the event from The Patriots’ YouTube channel or reserve a space for in-person attendance by emailing [email protected].
