The People’s National Party extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Mable Tenn, a distinguished Jamaican business leader “whose life and legacy exemplified courage, excellence, and service to our nation”.
“Mable Tenn’s remarkable journey in corporate Jamaica stands as a testament to her resilience and pioneering spirit. From her early beginnings in 1952 with GraceKennedy Ltd., where she commenced her career as a secretary, she demonstrated dedication and vision that would shape her path and inspire many,” the PNP said.
In 1972, she became the first woman appointed to the Board of Directors of GraceKennedy, setting a powerful precedent for women’s leadership in Jamaica’s private sector.
“Through her contributions to initiatives supporting our agricultural landscape and her enduring support for women in leadership, she leaves behind a legacy that will continue to empower generations of Jamaicans,” the party said.
Over the years, Mable Tenn built successful enterprises of her own and pioneered several initiatives at GraceKennedy.
The PNP added: “She was more than a trailblazing businesswoman; she was a role model whose example of integrity, diligence, and commitment enriched both the corporate world and the broader fabric of Jamaican society. Her achievements reflect the values we uphold as a party and as a people committed to justice, equality, and inclusive opportunity.
“As we mourn her passing, we celebrate her life, her accomplishments, and her profound impact. Her contributions will not be forgotten, and her legacy will endure in the countless lives she touched and inspired.
“Rest in peace, Mable Tenn.”
