In an effort to win the hearts of employed persons in Jamaica who believe they are overworked and underpaid, the People’s National Party (PNP) has proposed the removal of tax from overtime payments.

The proposal would affect workers whose total earnings do not exceed $6 million per year.

This was pitched in the party’s manifesto launched on Tuesday at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston.

The PNP is also proposing the removal of tax from pension income if voted into power come September 3.

Additionally, the party states that it will increase the Employment Tax Credit cap to 40 per cent to incentivise businesses to hire more people and invest in training.
