The People’s National Party (PNP) has thrown its support behind party president Mark Golding following the death of his mother, Lady Patricia Golding.

Lady Golding reportedly passed away last night, (Thursday, September 26), at home, surrounded by her family. She was 96 years old.

She was the wife of pioneering orthopaedic surgeon and rehabilitation physician Sir John Golding. He died on March 23, 1996.

In a media release on Friday, the party expressed condolences to Golding and his family.

“Lady Patricia’s spirit, grace, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She was a symbol of quiet strength and dignity, deeply cherished by her family and respected by all those whose lives she touched,” the party said.

“Together, Lady Patricia and her late husband, Sir John Golding, built a legacy of service and compassion. They worked hand in hand to better the lives of Jamaicans, most notably through their contribution to rehabilitative medicine with the establishment of the Mona Rehabilitation Centre, now known as the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre. Their partnership was a testament to their shared commitment to the well-being of others and the development of Jamaican society.”
