Junior spokesperson on national security and defence, Jouvaughnie Byfield, has condemned the triple murder that claimed the lives of two nine-year-old schoolboys along the Flower Hill main road in Salt Spring, St James on Monday, November 6.
Reports are that the boys met their demise after the taxi in which they were travelling home from school was shot up by gunmen on Monday evening.
“More must be done to safeguard our children from such acts of violence. Our students should not have to fear for their lives while pursuing an education,” Byfield said in a statement on Tuesday, November 7.

He added that this tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need to address violence in our communities, especially when it affects young students.
The PNP’s junior spokesman also called for additional security resources to be allocated to high-crime divisions such as St. James.
“These divisions require more boots on the ground to confront the escalating crime problem that western parishes face. We cannot allow our communities to be held hostage by criminal elements,” Byfield said.
