A police constable attached to the Half-Way Tree Police Station in St Andrew was found dead at his home in St Elizabeth on Wednesday evening in what investigators believe to be a case of suicide.

The deceased has been identified as Constable Arnold Wilson, who resided in Williamsfield District, St Elizabeth.

Reports indicate that about 5:30 pm, a neighbour discovered Wilson’s body hanging from an ackee tree in his yard and raised an alarm.

Preliminary information suggests that Constable Wilson had been showing signs of mental distress and had been deemed unfit for duty.

He was on leave and undergoing treatment at the time of the incident.

Family members told investigators that Wilson’s condition reportedly worsened following the death of his father overseas.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
