The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says its ongoing operations targeting serious and violent crimes have resulted in two wanted men being accounted for within 24 hours in western Jamaica.
Police report that about 5 am on Monday, January 26, Omoy Largie, otherwise called ‘Not Nice’, was fatally shot during a confrontation with lawmen in Green Island, Hanover. Largie had been featured multiple times on the JCF’s Wanted Wednesday campaign in connection with the murder of Omar Nichols in Mount Carey, St James.
A Smith and Wesson pistol along with five rounds of ammunition, was reportedly seized during the incident. Investigators say, based on forensic evidence, the murder of Nichols has been posthumously cleared.
The shooting has been reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) as well as the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB).
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, January 27, Alex Brown, otherwise called ‘Raw Dog’, who was wanted for murder and also featured in the JCF’s Wanted Wednesday campaign, turned himself in to the police in Clarendon.
The police are again urging wanted individuals to surrender peacefully when approached. They also reminded the public that harbouring criminals is a criminal offence.
Anyone with information on criminal activities or the whereabouts of other wanted persons is being asked to contact the nearest police station, Crime Stop at 311, the National Intelligence Bureau at 811, or the police emergency number 119.
