The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has apologized to Kingston College (KC) saying a social media post made on Tuesday “has caused some discontent”.

The JCF social media posts have recently been engaging and funny.

But on Tuesday morning, three days after KC won their 36th Champs title, a birthday gift for their 100th year anniversary, the JCF posted: “We see the big celebrations and we know that some of you ‘feel a way”. Get your lick back! Is there someone you know that is a criminal and supporting the wrong ‘C’. Report them to Crime Stop (@crimestopjamaica) by calling 311”.

The image accompanying the text showed a gentleman in a green shirt and cap, the colours more associated with KC rivals Calabar, with another script saying, “Did they support the wrong team for Champs and are involved in crime?”

The words “wrong team” was in purple, the renowned unmistakable colour of KC.

Following backlash on social media by arguably the largest school fan base, the JCF posted again this time apologizing.

“The Jamaica Constabulary Force understands that a post made on April 2, 2025, has caused some discontent. In hindsight, it may have come have communicated an unintended message and such the JCF apologises to the Kingston College and any other school community that may have been offended by the post”.

Dave Myrie, principal of KC told Our Today, “It was an unfortunate ad that the JCF did and we addressed it. I will leave it there.”

KC extended their record run in the ISSA GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championship winning their fourth consecutive title and their record-extending 36th lien on the Mortimer Geddes Trophy last week.

It was also fitting that the school is celebrating their 100th year having been declared open on April 16, 1925, with 49 students.

KC or Fortis as they are popular called, is located at 2A North Street, at the heart of now volatile downtown Kingston for poor black boys, at a time when the traditional schools were for mostly white or the fairer-skinned students coming from the colonial days.
