

The police have stepped up their probe into the disappearance of Digicel worker and businessman Kevin Walker, as one suspect was killed in a gun battle and four others arrested over the last week.
Walker, 43, is also a businessman who offers small loans through his KW Easy Loans and Life Car Rental Services, is from the Allman Town community with his last known address in Vineyard Town.
He went missing on February 1, sources revealed after he went to collect a $20,000 loan repayment from a young lady, according to Our Today sources.
The much-loved Walker has been heavily involved in youth clubs attached to several communities and has been described as a “good youth”.
Superintendent of Police Derrick Champagnie, said on Sunday, February 2, at about 6:30 am, a missing person report was lodged at the Vineyard Town Police Station. Based on that report the Kingston Eastern police launched a high-level investigation.
On Monday, February 3, several interviews were done with individuals the police believe could help with their probe.
Damion ‘Diamond’ McFarlane and another person only known as ‘Lavar’ were listed as persons of interest.
A young lady from a Mark Lane address in Fletcher’s Land has since been held for questioning as Walker’s bank card was found in her possession after a withdrawal was made. While another lady from the Old Harbour area, is also in the custody of the police, as it is said that $700,000 was transferred from Walker’s account to her account.
But McFarlane was killed in a gun battle with lawmen on Tuesday night, February 11 in West Kingston following a carjacking. A 19-year-old, Tajay Thompson, otherwise called ‘Teco’, was apprehended. A 9mm pistol was recovered following the confrontation.
Two other suspects—Lavar Whitter and a man known by the alias ‘Shano’—are still at large.
Despite the many leads, the police are yet to find Walker’s body.
The police are now appealing to Lavar Whitter and Shano to surrender immediately and anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact Police Emergency at 119, Crime Stop at 311, the National Intelligence Bureau Tip Line at 811 or the nearest police station.
