Police seize submachine gun in St Andrew South Division

The St Andrew South Police have seized a high-powered submachine gun and ammunition during an early morning operation in the parish on Tuesday, October 14.

Reports from the police are that at about 6:10 am, a team of detectives from the Hunts Bay Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) conducted an operation in the Oak Land community.

During a search of an open lot, the lawmen discovered a Mac 11 9mm submachine gun loaded with a magazine containing two 9mm rounds. The firearm was found concealed inside an old refrigerator.

No arrest was made in connection with the seizure.

The St Andrew South Police continue to appeal to members of the public to share any information that can assist in removing illegal guns and ammunition from the streets.
