Dancehall artiste Popcaan polarised social media on Monday (January 4) for a comment in which he said the executive manager of retired sprint legend Usain Bolt, Nugent ‘NJ’ Walker, has ‘no talent’.
Popcaan, reacting to Bolt’s Instagram post promoting his latest single Living The Dream, all but slammed the song as garbage, urging the Jamaican icon to push someone other than NJ.
The deejay did not mince words, but tried to keep his composure to get his point across that many other more deserving youths could greatly benefit from Bolt’s influence if given a chance.
“Wid all due respect legend, me feel like you fi just help up some youth wid real musical talent!!!!” Popcaan began.

“Them dey ya nuff, NJ a me fam but please just give some hungry youth wey actually have talent tha platform dey. Happy new year,” he continued.
The comment has triggered mixed reactions from social media users, some of whom agreed with the Fixtape deejay for the blatant show of nepotism.

According to the Unruly fans, Bolt, with his record label and worldwide recognition, could easily mentor the next Koffee, but chooses to peddle mediocre content for the sake of friendship.
“If unu say popcaan wrong unu woulda obviously tell unu brejin his new track fire even when it’s trash,” one man tweeted.
On the other hand, there are supporters of the sprint king who feel Bolt should endorse and push whoever he pleases, without outside pressure or social responsibility.

“Popcaan should mind the business that pays which is kissing Drake’s [expletive deleted],” another woman wrote on Twitter.
Popcaan, signed to Drake’s OVO Sound in 2018, was further bashed for wading far from his ‘business’ and shaded the star for putting his nose in another man’s affairs.
“Badmind is active, every youth deserve a chance, you of all people should know cause when you touch Gaza you never talented until you master the craft. just stop badmind ghetto youths and make them try and follow them dreams #gazamisay still rate unruly anyways,” an Instagram user replied.
The official music video for Living The Dream, written and performed by NJ and Bolt, was released on Saturday, January 2 after the fastest man alive initially teased the single for next month.
