Dancehall superstar Popcaan, who has been a member of Drake’s OVO Sound since late 2018, has said that he will soon be a free agent.
In an interview with Crack magazine, released on Monday (March 6), the Promise singer, without exposing too much, signaled that he might be parting ways with OVO Sound in the future.
“I have so much music. The label can be weird sometimes. I love the label, but I don’t like them… . But I’ll be independent soon,” Popcaan said.
While it is unclear what timeframe “soon” actually means, the artiste also hinted that he would be releasing another new album this year, although his most recent, Great Is He (GIHE), is still fresh in the hearts and minds of Unruly fans across the world.

The album, which is the Next to Me singer’s third under OVO Sound, was made available on January 27. OVO functioned as a Warner Records subsidiary for 10 years, from 2012 until 2022.
GIHE, which featured Drake, Burna Boy, Toni-Ann Singh, and Chronic Law, debuted at number three on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart and sold 3,200 units during its first week of release.
The album was Popcaan’s sixth entry, since he started his music career in the late 2000s, on the weekly Billboard Reggae Albums list.
