Former Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller was reportedly rushed to hospital last night (April 6).

The 77-year-old former head of government in the last People’s National Party (PNP) administration was said to be responding to treatment after being listed in serious condition.

There were, however, no further details regarding what led to her hospitalisation.

Simpson Miller served as prime minister from March 2006 to September 2007 and again from January 2012 to March 2016. She was president of the PNP from 2005 to 2017 and leader of the opposition from 2007 to 2012 and then from 2016 until her retirement from active politics in 2017.
