The official start of Expo Jamaica 2025 at the National Arena is being held up due to a power outage on Thursday, April 3, 2025.

The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) says its technicians are working to restore power to sections of the Corporate Area this evening (April 3) after a downed utility pole plunged parts of the capital into darkness.

In a statement on X, formerly Twitter, JPS advised it has deployed teams to rectify the disruption, adding that the incident took place around 4:48 pm.

The power outage has delayed the official start of Expo Jamaica 2025, the country’s premier tradeshow organised by the Jamaica Manufacturers & Exporters Association at the National Arena in St Andrew.

The tradeshow which begins today and will run until Sunday, April 6, has as a sponsor the Jamaica Public Service Company Limited, the island’s sole electricity distributor.

The official start of Expo Jamaica 2025 at the National Arena is being held up due to a power outage on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
