
The Government of Jamaica has announced the upcoming state visit of the President of the Republic of Namibia, Dr Hage G Geingob and his wife, Monica Geingos.
Geingob, who is set to arrive for a five-day stay on August 4, will be the special guest of the Government as Jamaica celebrates 60 years of political independence.
The Namibian president departs on August 8.
“This will be the first time President Geingob is visiting Jamaica.”

In a statement, the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) indicated that, along with Jamaica 60 celebrations, the visit also marks 60 years of diplomatic relations between Jamaica and Namibia.
“This will be the first time President Geingob is visiting Jamaica,” the OPM noted.
During the historic visit, the Namibian president will receive a ceremonial welcome at the Norman Manley International Airport and will be met by State and Government officials.
GEINGOB TO MEET WITH PRIME MINISTER ANDREW HOLNESS
Geingob will address a special sitting of Parliament to mark Jamaica’s 60th anniversary of Independence. He will pay a courtesy call on Governor General Sir Patrick Allen.
Geingob will also meet with Prime Minister Andrew Holness and engage in bilateral discussions with the Government.
The scheduled activities for Geingob include the Jamaica 60 Independence Grand Gala and laying a wreath at the shrine of Jamaica’s first National Hero, Marcus Garvey.
