Christmas Day saw U.S. President Donald Trump ordering a military strike on IS (Islamic State)  camps in Nigeria, leading to many fatalities.

President Trump has warned for months that atrocities committed against Christians in Nigeria would not be tolerated and that if the Nigerian Government failed to act, he would.

He has been good on his word as he called Nigeria “ a country of concern which allows violations of religious freedoms.”

Taking to Truth Social on Christmas Day, President Trump wrote: “I directed the military to launch a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria who have been targeting and viciously killing primarily innocent Christians, at levels not seen for many years and even Centuries.”

“I have previously warned these Terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight there was.”

The U.S. strike was conducted with the authority of the Nigerian Government. It took place in Sokoto, which is located in the northwestern end of the country on the border with Niger.

Nigeria’s Foreign Minister Yusuf Maitama Tuggar

Nigeria’s Foreign Minister Yusuf Maitama Tuggar explained, “It was a joint operation and had nothing to do with a particular religion. The strike had nothing to do with Christmas; it could be any other day – it is to do with attacking  terrorists who have been killing Nigerians.”

For years, Boko Haram and IS have been causing mayhem in Nigeria, targeting Christians and espousing Muslim doctrines, which they say must be adhered to.  They have systematically imposed a reign of fear and murder, with unrepentant jihadists allowed to impose their will.

Republican James Pozen of Wisconsin said, “President Trump will not allow the slaughter of decent Christians by Muslims anywhere in the world. Now you can see why the United States cannot allow these people to come in and take over the country.

“America is a Christian nation and holds true to Western culture and values. We make no apologies for that. Radical Islamic terrorism cannot be allowed to take hold. We now have a strong President who will squash them all. He is a protector of Christians.”

Congressman Don Bacon added, “ We cannot turn a blind eye to Islamist terrorism conducting genocide against Christians in Nigeria and nearby areas. This military action is right. Intervening saves innocent lives. We praise our military for working around the clock to include Christians.“
