Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced that the by-elections for the Trelawny Southern and St Andrew North Western constituencies will occur on Friday, November 21, 2024.

Nomination Day is set for Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

“I encourage all eligible voters to exercise their constitutional right to vote and participate actively in the democratic process,” Holness urged.

He made the announcement during a post-Cabinet press briefing this morning.

The St Andrew North Western seat has been made vacant with the resignation of MP Dr Nigel Clarke, who also vacated his role as Finance Minster for the post of deputy managing director of the IMF.

Trelawny Southern has been vacant since the resignation of Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert last year September.

By-elections for the Morant Bay and Aenon Town divisions were also announced for November 22 and Nomination Day, November 6.

This follows the deaths of Majorie McLeod of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and Rohan Bryan, councillor of the People’s National Party (PNP).
