It was a massive turnout for Prime Minister Andrew Holness’ Media Party held on the lawns of the OPM in Kingston on Tuesday evening.
The rains lashed the city and there were foreboding clouds during the day, which many took as a portend of a damp squib.
That didn’t prove to be the case. The rains abated and weather conditions were perfect as the evening saw guests converge on the OPM on Devon Road in Kingston. Some took this as a sign of things to come later this year, but let’s not go there right now.
The prime minister set aside politics and encouraged all present to have a good time and so we did.

It has to be said—the prime minister was able to bring out more of the media fraternity than other organisations are able to do. It seemed that everyone in the business was at the PM’s joint.
The fayre and drinks were plentiful, the vibe was great. You had Italian, Indian, Middle Eastern, Jamaican food stations on offer. All were spoilt for choice for cuisine.
It was good to see Juliet Holness out enjoying herself and giving the Speaker’s chair and solemnity a break.
People gathered from all walks of life, not just the media—entertainers, business leaders, sports stars, journeymen and journeywomen. Members of the Government were well represented here.
Kudos to whoever curated the guest list.
Same time, same place next year, prime minister?
