Class will be in session on Wednesday (May 21), when Keisha Bailey, financial educator and CEO of Profit Jumpstarter, hosts a free webinar for teachers to support them in “fixing up their finances.”

During the webinar, Bailey will bring her almost two decades of experience and wealth of expertise to bear in sharing practical pointers on money management and demystifying the money myths.

“The webinar will address areas like budgeting, which though simple, is fundamental to wealth creation. We want to help our educators improve their budgeting so that it doesn’t feel restrictive and delve into ways to save more, even on a tight budget. Additionally, we will explore opportunities to create additional sources of income, so that they can start building wealth for the future, with accessible investment options,” Bailey explained.

“At the end of the session, we want our educators – teachers, principals, administrators – to feel more confident about their money and take the necessary steps to “fix up their finances, using the support and resources that we have made available to them. So don’t miss out, check out our social media pages to register,” she added.

Financial literacy is a key that Bailey believes will help to unlock opportunities for professional growth and financial security for the nation’s teachers.

In recognising the importance of financial literacy, Bailey and her team established the Profit Jumpstarter Academy, an online hub with resources to support individuals on their wealth-building journey.

Through Profit Jumpstarter, Bailey forged a partnership with the Ministry of Education & Youth to give 200 educators access to the academy to bolster financial literacy in schools and support educators on to better manage their money. Throughout this partnership, educators have had access to the financial resources such as courses, guides and worksheets available in the academy.

Additionally, several live sessions were held on a range of topics such as: ‘Mastering Your Mindset’; ‘Insurance’; ‘Holiday Budgeting Tips and Tricks’ and goal setting. This webinar is another initiative to support the ongoing partnership between the two organisations.

Standing as a testament of the value of financial literacy, Bailey notes, “I have seen firsthand the impact that financial literacy coupled with the willingness to take action towards achieving your goals can have in transforming your life and circumstances. This partnership (therefore) represents an investment in our nation, as it supports efforts to build a more financially literate society where individuals can build wealth for today and establish a legacy for their families and the future.”

Dr Winsome Gordon, CEO of the Jamaica Teaching Council (JTC), encouraged teachers to attend the webinar so they can maximise this opportunity to improve their money management skills and make smart financial decisions, thereby multiplying their money.
