As promised, dancehall vixen Shenseea returned home to throw the fourth and final ALPHA release party, where she received an outpouring of love from her fellow Jamaican celebs and personalities.
As the countdown to the festivities began, Our Today chatted with a few Jamaican celebrities and personalities who all shared similar sentiments about the international singjay and her efforts.
Reggae artiste Tarrus Riley, who featured Shenseea on his 2020 hit single, Lighter, met the artiste in her budding years and expressed how proud he was of his musical sister.
“I like it. And Shenseea have me support as a bredda and also as a musical bredda. She work hard, she work really hard, she look different, she sound different. If yuh ask me, she have her own likkle special place in the music, already! …A just greatness,” Riley said.
Both Sun Comes Up and Shen Ex Anthem on the 14-track album appeared to be favourites among media personalities, including acclaimed broadcaster ZJ Sparks.
“Mi love the Shen Ex [Shen Ex Anthem] song and the one with the Sun Comes Up. I love the album overall but I love those two especially and, of course, Body Count,” she started.
Sparks went on to note how happy she was with the throwing of a physical release party amid the pandemic.
“Mi love it man. It give a vibe cuz we’ve been locked up like fowls for so long. It’s nice to get out and just rave and enjoy.”
As the broadcaster wrapped, she expressed how proud she was of the Deserve It hitmaker, saying: “Work start now!”
Also present was producer and radio personality Bambino, who, like ZJ Sparks, is a lover of Sun Comes Up and Shen Ex Anthem.
“You know seh me like the Beenie Man tune [Henkel Glue] and me like the Ex [Shen Ex Anthem] tune and the one bout the Sun [Sun Comes Up], is like a likkle positive song,” the DJ said.
He lauded ALPHA‘s production as well as Shenseea versatility, explaining how proud he felt and how far she has come.
Nicholas ‘Zimi Nick’ Mahfood, director of Zimi Entertainment, also praised the artiste’s talents and was excited for her return home.
“Was good, was solid. I like the diversity and the variety of songs. And then it just shows her range in terms of what she can go into and she can’t stay in one lane forever if she wants to get to that level.”
