Provide students with latest technological tools to support new career choices – MP Daley

Member of Parliament for St. Catherine Eastern, Denise Daley has called for the support of students desirous of engaging new career choices.

“Our approach [to transformational education] must be multifaceted including vocational and technology training,” she said.

“Are we providing the latest technological tools and information to support new career choices?” she inquired.

Let us consider the electric cars that I have heard being announced in this parliament. Are developing a curriculum for mechanics that will enable them to understand and work with these advanced systems?

Daley was delivering her presentation in the 2023/24 Sectoral Debate on Wednesday (June 7) in the House of Representatives.

She said, “Let us consider the electric cars that I have heard being announced in this parliament. Are developing a curriculum for mechanics that will enable them to understand and work with these advanced systems?”

“We need to ensure that our students are prepared for diverse career paths that can take them anywhere within this dynamic global marketplace,” urged Daley.

Training amid AI takeover

She added that technical institutions in the country need better equipment and more highly trained staff to prepare them for the modern global economy “where it seems that artificial intelligence is taking over.”

Vaz reported that the USF has completed 116 site assessments, with the remaining assessments scheduled to be finalised before the end of January. He said the assessments are critical in identifying areas where connectivity is most urgently needed and ensuring resources are deployed for maximum impact.
