A well-executed prank is an excellent mood booster and Jamaican reality comedy series 876 Roommates may have just pulled off one better than any of its contestants.
The management team, after shocking many young fans with the show’s sudden cancellation on Sunday (July 18), admitted on Twitter that the annoucement was a dupe.
Getting the better of everyone, and revelling in the social media-fuelled controversy, 876 Roommates declared it was ‘here to stay’.
“The castmates aren’t the only ones who can do pranks. The Management Team is just as good! Do you really think that we would leave you hanging? No way! We appreciate all the love and support that we saw. Continue being our faithful roommates. #876roommates ain’t going nowhere!” the organisers tweeted.
876 Roommates rocketed into the number one trending Twitter on Sunday on the premiere of the show’s second episode, titled ‘Ghetto Gourmet’.
The positive comments and rib-tickling reactions all but screeched to a halt when the show’s Twitter account posted that for legal reasons undisclosed, its inaugural season was cancelled with immediate effect.
