With its factory at Ashenheim Road in Kingston destroyed by a massive fire on Monday, Pure Ice is today promising adequate supplies of ice within a week, having brokered a deal to augment its regular supplies.
Pure National Limited, which trades under the name Pure Ice is set to receive supplies of ice from the unnamed company until its factory is rebuilt, which CEO Theresa Lindo tells Our Today will be bigger and better with enhanced capabilities. When pressed to identify this company, Lindo would only say this is an affiliated company.
Our Today pressed Lindo on the planned capital outlay for rebuilding the factory bigger and better and she admitted that the final numbers were not yet crunched “as we have to make sure we can provide for the gap in the market and that customers taken care as best as possible…There is a lot of work to be done”.
Expanding infrastructure planned
“We will continue with plans to expand our infrastructure, which will not only restore our existing product lines but also allow us to explore the introduction of new offerings in the near future. This is a moment for growth and innovation. We are determined to come back stronger and better positioned to meet the needs of our market,” the Pure Ice CEO said.
Pure National Limited said it remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and service. Lindo admits that the managers are still assessing the damage, noting that they have still not gotten access to the burnt-out building, which will only come when the company gets clearance from the Fire Marshall.
“So until then the focus is on customers and getting supplies back to them,” Lindo explains.
Comprehensive contingency plans
In conceding that the fire at its manufacturing facility has resulted in significant damage, Pure Ice is seeking to assure its customers and stakeholders that the management has assessed the situation and is implementing comprehensive contingency plans to minimize disruption to services.
Lindon says the team is working diligently to restore operations adding, “our thoughts are with our employees, their families, and the community during this challenging time. We are committed to ensuring that our customers continue to receive the high-quality ice and water products they depend on. The safety of our employees and the satisfaction of our customers are our top priorities, and we are doing everything possible to achieve a swift recovery.”
Lindo emphasizes that in the wake of fire, the management will repair the factory and operations in a way that enhances their capabilities. The fire, which left millions of dollars in damage, also destroyed all of the inventory Azan’s Supercentre, which was destined for its Cross Road branch with the crucial Christmas season fast approaching.
