Pure National Limited has announced that it has officially resumed full local production and distribution of ice, marking the end of its temporary importation phase.

Ice is now being manufactured exclusively from the company’s newly rebuilt facility in Kingston, which is already supplying wholesale and retail clients islandwide.

Pure National Limited is the parent company of Pure National Ice, Happy Ice, and Happy Water.

The company has officially ended ice importation and is focused on increasing access to locally produced ice, which can now be retailed at lower costs. The company confirmed that its production systems have received final clearance from all the requisite bodies, and with these approvals, Pure National is operating at full capacity, with further expansion expected in short order.

Managing Director of the Company, Theresa Lindo, said “we have fully resumed production for such a time as this”, referring to the passage of Hurricane Melissa on October 28, which has left much of the island out of power and without access to water.

Lindo expressed pride in the team’s effort throughout the rebuilding process. “We are proud to share that Pure National is once again producing and distributing ice locally. Our facility is now fully operational, and I want to extend heartfelt thanks to our incredible team. Their commitment, sacrifice, and loyalty made this moment possible, and we are happy to be able to help the country recover from this devastating storm,” she said.

Lindo also noted that “the unwavering support of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Ministry of Finance was a significant factor in our recovery and rebuilding efforts.”

Pure National Ice has also announced that since the passage of the storm, the Company has donated thousands of gallons of water and several tonnes of ice to various private and public initiatives islandwide. It is now taking that generosity a step further by matching purchases.

From now until the end of November 2025, Pure National Ice and Happy Ice will match, one to one, every bottle of water and bag of ice. Lindo explained, “We are matching every purchase. If one ice is bought for charity, we will donate one bag. If one bottle/case of water is bought, we donate the equivalent.”

The donation only applies to water and ice being purchased for hurricane relief. Customers and those wishing to donate can call 876-564-5077 or 876-758-7575. The upgraded facility includes a high-capacity 70-ton ice maker that allows for faster production, reduced energy use, and better product consistency.

It is part of a broader investment in new infrastructure following the fire that destroyed the company’s previous plant in November 2024. Lindo also extended appreciation to the company’s clients and partners. “We are especially grateful to our retail and wholesale customers, who stood with us during the most challenging period in our company’s history. Just as we have emerged stronger, we are confident Jamaica and our people will rise stronger than ever.”
