Texas, the second largest American state has been under the weather as it contends with winters storms that have led to the loss of power and water as residents suffer through freezing temperatures and a vulnerable economic and political infrastructure.

The conditions currently being faced in Texas result from the lack of preparation by state leaders, such as former presidential hopeful Senator Ted Cruz, who choose not to adhere to or adopt policies that would protect citizens.

People have now been rendered homeless as their houses have started caving in, some catching fire.

The communities are powerless, they can’t help themselves, each other or even the animals that are freezing to death.

With that in mind, Texas native and music superstar Beyoncé has taken the initative to create a digital platform, www.beyonce.com/beygood, where she will provide monetary relief, water and meals to those affected by the weather.

BEYONCE PROVIDES RELIEF GRANT FOR TEXANS

Beyoncé, also partnered with adidas and the Houston-based charity, Bread of Life, in an effort to help the citizens from her hometown of Houston, where she was born and raised.

The Brown Skin Girl singer took to Instagram last Friday (February 19) to announce that any affected citizen of Houston could apply for a relief grant of US$1,000.

Unfortunately, the Bread of Life charity has closed the first-round application process.

“Due to the overwhelming response, emphasising the tremendous need, the first round of applications have been received and are now being reviewed for immediate assistance,” Bread of Life said.

“We are closing the application process, while we work diligently to help the most needy in the wake of the winter storm.”

With all charitable measures in place, more help was needed.

In a report from online publication Teen Vogue, Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD charity has turned its efforts to other measures and held a water and food distribution event on Saturday (February 20) in partnership with Trae tha Truth’s Relief Gang, Bread of Life, and Angel By Nature.

Other celebrities are making their efforts to help, including country musician and proud Texan, Kacey Musgraves, who is selling branded T-shirts benefitting Texans in need.

Some of the merchandise mercilessly trolls Ted Cruz, who famously hightailed it out of the state when things got rough, so he could be a ‘Good Dad’ to his daughter who wanted to vacation in Cancun, Mexico.

According to a report from CBS, more than 14 million Texans were still in need up Wednesday.

They have no access to clean water and, with temperatures across the state expected to fall below freezing, BBC News reported that it’s estimated that 80,000 homes were still without power.

With all that’s been said and done, the Queen Bee should be nominated for state leadership. She understood that someone needed to step up in the crisis and, with the state leadership dropping the ball, she decided she’d be the one.
