In an appearance in a recent Tiktok video, reggae musician Queen Ifrica appeared to have cut her hair and has been accused by fans of bleaching her skin.
But, upon closer review of the video, it is clear that her hair has not been cut off and the video has a filter, possibly to hide any blemishes on her face.
Many of her fans were quick to rebuke the rumours.
Skin bleaching accusations are not foreign to the artiste, as she was accused of lightening her skin by dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel in 2011 and questions about her bleaching were raised again in 2018.
The video in question has since been removed from Queen Ifrica’s Tiktok page and she released a follow up Tiktok addressing the rumours about her hair and questions about what some considered her odd behaviour.
In the video, she clarified that she is well, her hair is still there and defended her behaviour as completely acceptable within the confines of her own home. She noted that the new video was only for the viewers genuinely concerned about her wellbeing.
“Who vex bout dat, gwan vex bout dat,” said Ifrica.
Ifrica is a Rasta reggae musician known for her stance on Jamaican empowerment, deeply personal issues and against bleaching through her songs such as Keep it to Yourself, Daddy, and Mi Nah Rub.
