Pharmaceutical company, R.A. Williams Distributors, has marked a significant expansion of their ophthalmic portfolio with the launch of the Aristovision lubricant eye drop range.

The new line features Drylief, a first-line intervention formulated with less viscous Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and natural electrolytes to stabilise the tear film and provide gentle relief for mild to moderate symptoms. For more complex cases linked to inflammation and trauma, Neotear offers a dual-acting artificial tear with an osmoprotective effect.

Rounding out the portfolio is Hypomer Gel, a high-viscosity, thixotropic artificial tear designed for lasting surface protection and suited to severe dry eye and nocturnal use.The introduction of this new range from Aristopharma is a timely intervention for Jamaican eye care. While the drops provide essential relief for everyday strain, the addition of Hypomer Gel is particularly strategic.

Addressing the OSJ Symposium at Sandals Dunn’s River, Samuel Deacon, Country Manager of Aristopharma Limited, introduces three new advanced lubricant eye drops to the local medical community. The presentation underscored Aristopharma’s 14-year commitment to Jamaica’s eye care sector and its ongoing investment in innovative therapeutic solutions for ophthalmologists.

Benefits of the new eye drops range

It offers the intensive, prolonged lubrication required for moderate to severe cases, such as those seen in patients with autoimmune conditions. By effectively reducing redness, pain, and blurred vision, these formulations directly improve patients’ quality of life.

The products were launched at the recently concluded two-day Ophthalmological Society of Jamaica (OSJ) Symposium at Sandals Dunn’s River. The three new lubricant eye drops  designed to support ocular surface care in clinical settings and broaden treatment options available to eye care practitioners.

Manufactured by Aristopharma Limited with a safe, long-term preservative, sodium perborate, these innovative products provide targeted hydration at every stage of dry eye disease. “The launch of the Aristovision lubricants is specifically designed to address the tiered needs of ocular surface recovery,” explained Country Manager for Aristopharma Limited, Samuel Deacon.

For him, “the introduction of these new therapeutic modalities, we are providing clinicians with targeted options to manage the ocular surface from initial injury through long-term rehabilitation. Our goal is to ensure that excellence in trauma care is matched by precision in follow-up therapy.”

Welcoming the expanded treatment options, President of the Ophthalmological Society of Jamaica, Dr. Amoy Ramsay, emphasised the clinical value of the new range for patient comfort. “In the modern clinical landscape, we are seeing a significant surge in Dry Eye Disease, largely driven by ‘Computer Vision Syndrome’ as patients spend more time on digital devices with reduced blink rates,” she told the symposium.

For her par CEO of R.A. Williams Distributors, Audley Reid reflected, “14 years ago, we entered this market with Aristobet-N, and our mission remains the same: to provide clinically relevant, high-quality products that practitioners can trust. Drylief, Neotear, and Hypomer Gel represent our continued commitment to expanding patient access to advanced ocular care.”
