On Saturday, August 31, the Jamaica eSports League will host the first-ever major gaming land tournament, Gamers Fest JA which promises to be the gaming community’s heartbeat.

The event will be held at Summit House, which will be transformed into a lively hub of gaming excitement from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, highlighting the amazing development of gaming culture in Jamaica. A remarkable day of competition, friendship, and celebration is planned for gamers of all skill levels at this ground-breaking RadioShack-sponsored event.

Jamaica’s gaming culture has changed dramatically in the last several years. From their modest origins in living rooms to the thrilling world of competitive esports, Jamaican gamers have become well-known worldwide. This development is a reflection of the island’s profound acceptance of digital entertainment as well as a growing interest in gaming.

Gamers Fest JA is a monument to this cultural change. The event will showcase the most innovative and talented Jamaicans through interactive activities, state-of-the-art gaming technology, and the exhilaration of live tournaments. There will be something for everyone in the event’s exciting list of competitions, which includes everything from modern esports to timeless favourites.

“You are invited to take a dive into the virtual world and experience the latest in immersive virtual reality (VR) gaming and technology. Even if you are not competing, there will be activities for you to try out, from the virtual reality driving simulation to the casual gaming zone where you can take a trip down memory lane on classic games.  So come meet all the gamers in Jamaica, meet new friends and persons you always play online with but have never met in person before,” stated Gregory Moore, chief executive officer, Virtual Reality Jamaica, organiser of Gamers Fest JA.

“It’s the first major land tournament from the Jamaica eSports initiative. This is going to be a tournament with over 100 gamers who are going to compete in four titles — EA Sports FC 24, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8. They will be competing for gifts and cash prizes from our sponsors. So come to the Summit house for a day of excitement in the video game worlds and enjoy the different activities that will be there,” Moore said in a recent interview.

“We are also grateful for RadioShack coming on board. They are with us for the entire season — Gamers Fest, our high school event which is Champions of Hope Road which happens in September and also our final grand event NESL 3. So RadioShack is a seasoned sponsor that provides equipment for the gaming community and we undoubtedly appreciate this partnership and we look forward to the future” he further stated.

On the part of RadioShack, Sherilla Gordon Mowatt, Brand Manager says the company is thrilled to be a part of this inaugural and engaging festival.

“In Jamaica’s gaming industry, this event marks a critical turning point. We anticipate witnessing the local gaming community’s talent and passion on full show. RadioShack is pleased to assist Gamers Fest JA by bringing its history of advancing technology and community projects. To further this celebration of gaming culture, RadioShack is the ideal partner because of our reputation for innovation and consumer satisfaction. Our assistance highlights the significance of connecting conventional electronics with the rapidly expanding realm of digital entertainment,” Sherilla said.

The festivities kick off this Saturday at Summit House between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm for a day that promises to ignite your competitive spirit and deepen your appreciation for the vibrant world of gaming. With a diverse audience expected, Gamers Fest JA is set to be a landmark event that celebrates the unity and creativity of Jamaica’s gaming culture.
