Ireland and Australia are out of the T20 World Cup after rain washed out their Group B clash against Zimbabwe at Pallekele Cricket Stadium in Kandy.
Zimbabwe, who stunned Australia in their previous match, needed just a point to move on, while Ireland had to win to keep their hopes alive, but the downpour meant both sides shared a point.
The result left Zimbabwe on five points and Ireland on three, ending the Irish campaign, while Australia’s last match against Oman becomes a dead rubber with just two points from the group. Zimbabwe will face Sri Lanka in Colombo on Thursday, with the winner topping Group B.
