Jamaican Rajindra Campbell created history on Saturday (August 3), becoming the country’s first-ever shot put medallist after claiming bronze in the men’s final at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

He also kicks off the national medal tally ahead of an explosive women’s 100-metre final.

The 28-year-old Kingston College alum threw a just sliver away from his all-time best to land at 22.15 metres, finishing third among 11 finalists.

Campbell minted bronze behind three-time gold medal winner Ryan Crouser from the United States—with an unassailable 22.90m—and compatriot Joe Kovacs, who claims silver for a second consecutive Olympics.
