Sexyy Red is facing legal action after allegedly encouraging her social media followers to attack Nicole Barnes, the grandmother of one of her children.

Court documents filed on Monday, March 24 state that the rapper, born Janae Wherry, posted the home address and a photo of Barnes, on Facebook in December 2024. The lawsuit claims that Red urged her followers to “kick in the door” and commit acts of violence against Barnes.

Barnes is seeking US$5 million in damages.

Barnes’ attorney, Steven Weaver, told the St Louis police that the dispute between Red and the child’s father had “nothing to do” with his client. He also stated that attempts to settle the matter privately were ignored.

“We did try to informally resolve it, and her attorneys thought it was a joke. And now they’re finding out it’s not,” Weaver said.

According to the lawsuit, Barnes filed a police report at the time of the alleged incident and later moved out of her Hazelwood, Missouri, home for safety reasons. She claims she has struggled to find comparable housing and is undergoing therapy for emotional distress.

Red has not publicly responded to the lawsuit. She is the mother of two children, a son born in 2020 and a daughter born in 2024.
