Red Bull Jamaica is pushing the boundaries of live music with Red Bull Selector, an event that forces disc jockeys (DJs) to think on their feet and adapt in real time.

Set to take place at the UWI Carnival’s ‘D’ Aftermas’ on March 15, this is the first time this exciting event will take place in the Caribbean. The high-energy showdown redefines the role of the DJ, putting their skills to the ultimate test as the audience takes control of the music selection.

This year’s event will be hosted by the energetic Brush1, who has been dubbed the “Road Marshal”, with renowned soca DJ and producer Travis World headlining alongside the powerhouse duo Jamaica’s popular DJ collective, Chromatic, featuring the duo – Creep Chromatic and JR Chromatic.

In a bold redefinition of the disc jockey experience, Red Bull Selector hands control directly to the audience, putting a fresh spin on traditional DJ performances, where the DJs typically dictate the setlist.

Using red and blue voting tools, attendees determine the musical direction in real-time, shifting between themes and genres such as soca vs. dancehall or ‘Old School vs. New School’.

This interactive format challenges DJs to adapt instantly, ensuring that every performance is both unique and unpredictable. 

“The space where soca and dancehall meet is in need of constant innovation. I think Red Bull Selector will be one of those moments—an all-star Caribbean DJ cast hosted by Jamaica’s top touring MC means a little bit of everything for the patrons. No island will be left behind because there will always be someone on stage representing,” says Brush1.

Stellar line up 

The event’s host, marshalling the sound is Jamaican MC, entertainer and musical artiste Brush1 The Road Marshal! He specialises in Dancehall and Soca, and is known for electrifying some of the biggest stages locally, regionally and internationally. 

Travis World, the decorated DJ and Music Producer will represent the twin-island republic of Trinidad & Tobago at the inaugural event. Well-known in the Soca arena, Travis has produced top Soca hits for a number of hugely successful artists including Machel Montano, Patrice Roberts, Destra Garcia and in 2024 was nominated as International DJ of the Year at the Caribbean Music Awards. 

Representing Jamaica is popular DJ sound system, Chromatic, featuring the duo – Creep Chromatic and JR Chromatic.

Creep Chromatic, a key figure in Jamaica’s influential DJ movement, has graced major stages both locally and internationally, including Coachella, SOLE Dubai, and Boiler Room, spreading Dancehall music & culture globally.

His work as a DJ and tastemaker has been co-signed by bookings with international artists like Drake, Cardi B, and Dua Lipa. Joining Creep is JR Chromatic, an integral force in the Chromatic movement. A pioneering member of Jamaica’s sound system, JR has electrified audiences on major stages worldwide, including Jimmy Fallon and Red Bull Culture Clash.

Known for his dynamic hosting and infectious energy, he has shared the stage with top-tier artistes and entertainers, cementing his reputation as one of Jamaica’s premier MCs.

As demand for immersive live experiences continues to grow, Red Bull Selector recognises a movement toward greater audience participation in music events.
