Bayern Munich will be without Luis Diaz for their next three Champions League games after a red card against Paris St-Germain.
Diaz had shone with two goals in Bayern’s 2-1 victory over PSG on 4 November, but a dangerous tackle on Achraf Hakimi just before halftime earned him a straight red. The challenge left Hakimi sidelined with a severe left ankle sprain.
UEFA labelled the tackle serious rough play and handed Diaz a three-match ban. He will miss Bayern’s trip to Arsenal on 26 November, plus home games against Sporting and Union Saint-Gilloise on 9 December and 21 January.
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany had anticipated a single match suspension, so the ruling came as a surprise.
Despite the setback, Bayern lead the Champions League group with 12 points from four games, edging Arsenal and Inter Milan on goal difference. Diaz has made a strong start since his summer move from Liverpool, scoring three goals in four European outings and six in 10 Bundesliga matches.
