Burna Boy

Jamaican beer company, Red Stripe plans to match the excitement of Nigerian superstar Burna Boy’s afro-fusion concert tomorrow with its ultimate beer vibes experience.

As the official beer sponsor of the event, the iconic Jamaican brand said it was excited to support the celebration of afro-fusion, a genre many Jamaicans have embraced.

Burna Boy is expected to ignite the stage inside the National Stadium on the last stop of his Love, Damini 2022 Tour.

The Love, Damini 2022 Tour has taken the Grammy Award-winning artiste to several major cities in the US with a much-anticipated grand culmination in Kingston.

Red Stripe Brand Manager Nathan Nelms said he was excited to welcome Burna Boy to the home of reggae music and to see him and one of Jamaica’s most popular acts, Popcaan on stage.

Jamaicans to connect with Burna Boy

Said Nelms: “We expect that Jamaicans will connect well with his music because of the commonalities we share as a people. For us, it’s all about the music and the opportunity to create memorable experiences; and what could be more memorable than having one of music’s biggest global stars right here in Jamaica.”

Afrobeat is a Nigerian musical genre that blends West African and African American musical influences into an irresistible contemporary sound.

In a 2015 interview, Burna Boy described his music as ‘Afro-fusion’, a mix of Afrobeat with a variety of sounds and genres. It has led to the creation of the artiste’s top hits such as Last, On The Low, Ye, Gbona and It’s Plenty.

For Nelms, “Burna Boy can definitely take credit for his role in the rise of Afrobeat and Afro-fusion. His skill and talent as an artiste and performer are unquestioned. Fans who have watched his career will not want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience to see him perform live”.

In addition to the thrill of watching the Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer, concertgoers will be pleased to see Jamaica’s very own dancehall and reggae star, Popcaan and reggae singer Lila Ike.

Only recently, Popcaan and former Miss World, Toni-Ann Singh released their new single Next to Me which has captivated many music lovers with its creative visual and musical demonstration of a Jamaican love story.

Meanwhile, Lila Ike, the lone woman in the premium line-up, is expected to deliver with hits of her own. Gates open as early as 3 pm on Sunday, with the concert set to officially start at 4 pm. With Tier 1 VIP tickets already sold out, the concert is expected to attract thousands of patrons.
