Reggae artiste Pressure was purportedly robbed at gunpoint in the British Virgin Islands, but local police stated they have no record of the incident.

Pressure, a US Virgin Islands native, confirmed he was accosted early Sunday morning following the Black on Black concert featuring dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel. Surveillance footage circulating on social media shows two armed men confronting him and his entourage near Wickhams Cay. His group fled, leaving him to face the robbers alone. They took his chain, bracelet, and ring before escaping.

“I am okay, and I am thankful to everyone for their outpouring of love and support,” Pressure stated.

Police spokesperson Akia Thomas-Nero said on Wednesday, March 19 that authorities had no reports of the robbery. However, the department is investigating multiple incidents over the weekend, including an armed robbery and a report of gunshots in other areas of Tortola.

Pressure, who had travelled from Atlanta to attend the concert, declined to disclose the value of the stolen items but was thankful for the support he received.

The event, partially financed by the BVI government, had drawn criticism from the BVI Christian Council, which objected to Kartel’s involvement, citing concerns about his lyrics and influence.
