Reggae Boy defender Damion Lowe brought some holiday cheer to the community of Rockfort in East Kingston on Tuesday (December 28).

The popular player, the son of former Reggae Boy Onandi Lowe, treated more than 200 children with gifts at the Marcus Garvey Square on Glasspole Avenue.

Accompanied by representatives of his local sponsors, Digicel, and members of his management team, the 28-year-old central defender personally handed out gifts to the children in what was an inaugural initiative in the place that was once his home and that of his famous father.

Lowe said it was a special pleasure to bring some joy to the children at Christmas time.

“It has been a good year for me. I know how important Christmas is to the little ones and this treat will put a smile on their faces,” said Lowe, who has bigger plans for the event in the future.

“I have to thank my sponsors Digicel for showing up in a big way by providing all the gifts. Hopefully, next year, after the pandemic, we can have amusement rides for the children as well.”

Lowe was the sole Jamaican named to the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup Best XI and faces an arduous task early next year when the Reggae Boyz will try to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar from six-place in the current group standings with seven points from eight games.
