Reggae Boys head coach Steve McClaren has resigned his post after the team failed to secure a spot in the World Cup from the group stage on Tuesday night.

McClaren made the announcement a short while ago, ending his 18-month tenure with the Jamaica team that still has a chance of making the World Cup if they can find success in the playoff tournament early next year.

McLaren said he gave his all to the job.

“Leading this team has been one of the greatest honours of my career, but football is a results business and tonight we’ve fallen short of our goal, which was to qualify from this group,” he said.

Jamaica failed to advance to the World Cup after failing to beat Group H leaders Curacao at the National Stadium Tuesday night, ending the affair in a nil-all draw.

McClaren said he’s positive the team will find success in March 2026 during its final bid to make the World Cup in the playoffs.

He praised the team staff and the Jamaican public for their support.
