The Reggae Boyz delegation that left earlier today for the United States had to make a hasty return to the island following a technical issue with their aircraft, the Jamaica Football Federation (KFF) revealed.

Following their first leg 0-1 loss to the Americans, Jamaica are scheduled to play the CONCACAF Nations League return leg on Monday, November 18.

The delegation did depart this afternoon for St Louis, Missouri, however, due to a technical issue with the aircraft, the plane returned to Jamaica a short while ago.

JFF president Michael Ricketts told Our Today that it was an unfortunate incident but all is well.

“I was advised earlier that the chartered flight that was supposed to be taking the team developed mechanical and technical issues 40 minutes into the flight I was told, so they had to turn back,” said Ricketts.

“We are trying to get it sorted out, the arrangement is that they will leave tomorrow at 3 pm. So from a technical standpoint we will train tomorrow morning at 10 am and leave at 3 pm,” he explained.

“Hopefully this time, things will be OK and and let’s see what will happen when they take the field on Monday afternoon,” said Ricketts.

“But a little bit of a a set back and an unfortunate situation but all’s well that ends well,” he added.

The Reggae Boyz had departed the island at 3:00 pm Jamaica time for what was a three-and-a-half-hour flight. They should have arrived in Missouri at 6:30.
