Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz advanced to the CONCACAF Gold Cup competition following their 3-0 win over St Vincent and The Grenadines winning 4-1 on aggregate at Sabina Park on Tuesday night (March 25).

With the first leg drawn 1-1 in Arnos Vale, the Reggae Boyz made their home advantage count and ran out an easy 3-0 win and qualified for their sixth consecutive Gold Cup from 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2025.

The impactful Warner Brown, who was given a lifeline with Michail Antonio’s absence, staked a claim for further inclusion by scoring a beautiful goal in the 27th minute. It was his first goal for Jamaica in this, his second match.

An own goal by Andrew Johnson in the 89th minute sealed St Vincent’s fate before the speedy Renaldo Cephas put the icing on the cake slotting home in the 90+4 minute, also his first goal for Jamaica.

It was a dominant display from the Reggae Boyz with 64 per cent possession and 17 shots, with six on target.

Jamaica joins 15 other countries that will participate in the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup: hosts the United States, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, Haiti, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Guadeloupe, Guatemala and Saudi Arabia (invited team).

Reggae Boyz coach Steve McClaren said he was pleased with his team’s display as they played with more purpose and pace to his liking.

“This time I was pleased with the balance and we got the 90 miles an hour, which when we play like that, you know, we’re we cause teams problems,” said McClaren.

“But there’s one big thing I’ve learned, there are no easy games in the Caribbean no matter what and they worked hard and were quick on the break,” he pointed out.
