As the dates for Reggae Sumfest draws closer, prospective party goers are eager to see the International line up for what is dubbed the Greatest Show on Earth.

Producers for the event, Downsound Entertainment, have announced many of the local acts set to take the stage on July 22 and 23. However, mentions are yet to made of any international acts for the anticipated event.

As loyal and prospective first-time Reggae Sumfest attendees await the announcement of the international acts, some have shared with Our Today who they hope to see for the 2022 staging, and it seems many are more in favour of the women in music.

Several shared that they hope so see American rapper Cardi B, who over the years has shown much love to the island.

“Cardi, Cardi would bad. Cardi woulda bad yuh fret,” Malik Wright asserted.

Another noted that they would love for Reggae Sumfest to have The Weeknd perform, “I think he’d really bring the heat,” said Kim Stanley. The Weeknd shares manager, Wassim Sal Salby, with dancehall vixen Shenseea, who is set to perform on July 22.

Also mentioned is the recent rising superstar, Doja Cat.

“Doja Cat is one too cause she’s an amazing entertainer, [her] songs running the place right now but I don’t know if Jamaica would really appreciate her,” Tia Baker said.

Doja Cat, in last year’s Spotify Wrapped placed at #1, #2 and #9 in the Top 10 most played songs on the island. Further to this, the rapper, songwriter and record producer had four additional songs in the Top 50.

Rapper Nicki Minaj, was another name mentioned.

The Trinidadian rapper headlined the show back in 2011, and throughout her career, like Cardi B, has shown love to the country, even doing a few collaborations over the years with the likes of Vybz Kartel, Stylo G and Skillibeng.

Other stars mentioned included Beyonce and mother-to-be Rihanna, both of whom have performed at the show in the past.

Despite the currently pregnant Bajan, who looks just about ready to pop, fans shared they would still wish for Downsound Entertainment to reach out to the entrepreneur.

“If them can get Rihanna please, although she a breed,” Wright expressed.
