Rehabilitative works along Charlton Avenue in St Andrew will see motorists experiencing traffic delays over the next few days.

The National Works Agency (NWA) said that excavation works which commenced last weekend are expected to resume today (March 16) on the section of the road leading to Hillman Road. The work being done is to correct defects to the concrete pad located near the section of the corridor which has Charlton Ford.

Stephen Shaw, communication and customer service manager at the NWA, also said that, effective Saturday morning (March 18), access to Hillman Road from the Charlton Ford will be restricted. The restriction will be to facilitate the pouring of concrete as part of the rehabilitation work and will remain in place for three days, ending on Tuesday (March 21).

Alternative routes

Resulting from the activities, the following changes will be in effect:

Motorists wishing to travel north along Constant Spring Road should turn left on Charlton Avenue then left onto Constant Spring Road, then right onto Mannings Hill Road, then right onto Saxthorpe Avenue. Motorists may also use Allerdyce Drive, back onto Olivier Road, then back onto Constant Spring Road.

The works are being done as part of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation’s Maintenance of Secondary Main Roads 2022 Programme, valued at just under J$11.5 million.

Motorists are being advised to exercise caution, obey the posted warning signs and the instructions of the flagpersons.
